sample recording

Post by jonbongjovi » Tue Nov 08, 2011 4:10 am

Hey Guys,

So in my ongoing quest for cool sounds, I'm trying to get my own library of recorded samples.

Anyone recommend good/affordable microphones and what I need to swot up on to mesh my samples into tracks?

I realise this is a somewhat open ended question I suppose I'd just like to hear what other people have found handy when making their own samples.

Cheers,
Jon

Microphones are a djungle of opinions, though some common recommendations I see are:

Shure SM58 - dynamic (doesn't need phantom power), one of the worlds most popular mics.
Rode NT1 or 2 - condenser mic.
