Mapping Behringer BCR2000 buttons to stop/play in Live 8.2.6
Hi,
This should be simple enough but I'm having a real problem mapping buttons on my BCR2000 to Live 8s transport controls.
I've tried it with the BCR buttons set to send CC or MMC data but the BCR requires 2 button presses for Live to respond. I've tried it with toggle set to off on the BCR, but still the same. All I want is to assign one button for play and one for stop, each requiring one push to work. How hard can it be?
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

eh?
It should work just fine.
I use a user control map of my own construction, if you don't know how to make one - it's probably worth finding out. Do a search for UserConfiguration.txt.
But you could just use the Ableton supplied BCR map in preferences.
in my UserConfiguration.txt it reads like this, in the appropriate section
it all works fine

Code: Select all

# The transport buttons are also expected not to be toggles.
StopButton: 105
PlayButton: 106
... etc-

Hi, thanks for the response, appreciated.
According to Spotlight I don't have a UserConfiguration.txt file on my system. I also do not have a Library folder under my user and UserConfiguration.txt still doesn't exist in the root Library folder.
I'm more than happy to simply use midi mapping to assign the buttons and I've now got Stop working properly, but if possible I'd like to get the play button to retrigger when pressed a second time, but every time I manage this it triggers the audio twice on each press. Grrrrr!
Thanks for your help.
P.S. And if it's possible to assign stop and play to the same button, i.e., one press for play, second press for stop, I'd be really interested.

The buttons on BCR2000 can be programed either Toggle or Momentary. Might help to look into that.

Thanks Brontoy,
I think I've got it going as well as possible now.
Cheers for your help.

Re: Mapping Behringer BCR2000 buttons to stop/play in Live 8.2.6
Hi Lampmeister,
Can I ask how you got on with this? Been trying for ages now to get mute/solo buttons working properly – they toggle fine when I use ableton's midi mapping but I really want to set it up on a remote script (so it will work like that when I open Live, without having to map it each time).
Would be interested to hear if you found a solution.
Cheers

Hi,
some of the controls in live only act on 127 messages and not 0 message from the BCR/BCF. Try editing the button output so you get 127 on press AND release. This has worked fine for me in the past, definately with mutes/solos anyway.
Cheers,
Stax.
