Studio connections

Does it matter if you connect studio monitors: xlr to 1/4 inch - balanced or rca to 1/4 - unbalanced to your audio interface ? What difference does it make ?

the main difference between unbalanced/balanced cables without getting technical is that when you use unbalanced cable which is over a meter you will get noise issues so if you need long cables i would stick with balanced ones.
