Akai APC 40 mapping?

hi,

i am running live 7 and i have an pac 40.

the pre set mappings are okay, however i would like to map the BPM (upper right, next to tap) to one of the knobs on the APC 40 (i am thinking the cue level would be good?)

when i click on the "midi" on the upper right of screen and then try and click on the BPM nothing happens when i turn the knob on the pac 40?

any ideas what step I'm missing?

go to live>preferences>midi sync>midi ports....your apc should be there at the bottom under the column where it says "remote" set those to "on"
section 25.1.2 of the manual if what i said doesn't make sense.
