I think it sounds much better now. I love that snare.dutcher wrote:All I have on there is a limiter with .5 db gain and a spectrum analyzer.citizenchris099 wrote:dutcher wrote:Alright here's a revised version, hopefully it sounds better.

still loud as fuck, but the piano sits way better, and the breaks with the soft piano that builds brings more energy than just volume boost, don't you think?
Re: Review my track and I'll review yours!
It does, I have it increasing a bit in volume but mostly in velocity. You still think it's loud? Is every part of it loud to you? I could just turn the gain way down on the master limiter.
By the way, Muzik and Fzang pick another track for me to check out.

the wole song is loud not the piano
i dont think it's the limiter's fault only, and its not necessarily abad thing in' today's pop world, but if you ever plan to add vocals to this, do not use this as an isntrumental track, reopen the session and re do the whole mix with the vocal blended in, otherwise, there is just no room for it

probably more your style than the previous one

My newest track. I've tried really hard with the mastering, using my Sennheiser HD 25s.
I'm pretty sure you're all going to think that it's LOUD, but so were my reference tracks :<

When you open the cutoff completely, everything else drowns in supersaws. I hope it worked out. It sounds good on my speakers, when played loud. But my speakers are extremely forgiving
Why does my track sound so awfully compressed on Soundcloud? I think it's having issues with fast, high pitched transients.

Its funny that you mention that. You can't do a donation technically. That said I've had a couple customers remark that though they paid they haven't actually downloaded the song. As they typically listen at their desk and what not.dutcher wrote:

Piano sound still really loud, maybe it should be a bit more in the background. But I'm in the sound making since 3 months ago, I'm a fucking newbie so.... I'm not pretty sure about my advises lol
I'd try adding some ambients aswell to increase song dynamics (sound a bit static to me, not really groovie). Something like marching snares or so comes to my mind... maybe you want to try it¿?¿?
I'm not an english speaker (I'm from Madrid "city of wankers"-Spain) so its really hard to describe, sorry if my words are not the appropiate dude, I'm doing my best
here's mine: http://soundcloud.com/makemusicnotmissiles so you can call me every name in the book haha

Hmm yeah I don't plan on adding vocals. I think the problem is that there's so much other shit around the same frequency as the piano that if I turn the piano down to a reasonable level it gets drowned out.Muzik 4 Machines wrote:the wole song is loud not the piano

I would have liked to hear part of your track - like a breakdown or something - where you don't have that what I think is a ride cymbal going on in the background.
Re: Review my track and I'll review yours!
It's fine for a house track to be loud in my opinion, they're just saying mine's loud because it's more of a chilled out track. As I said earlier, house music isn't really my cup of tea, and I know even less about progressive house. I was kind of expecting that open hi-hat to come back in when the beat sorta drops around 2:27 though.Fzang wrote:My newest track. That's interesting, although a shame because I have some tracks with copyrighted samples that I wouldn't be able to sell on bandcamp.citizenchris099 wrote:Its funny that you mention that. Hmm, I get what you mean.dutcher wrote:I was kind of expecting that open hi-hat to come back in when the beat sorta drops around 2:27 though.
But from what I've heard, it's also a common "trick" to bring in the lead synth almost solo after the big drop, and after that add the percussion as the song progresses to further enhance the feeling of "go" in the song.
Re: Review my track and I'll review yours!
No worries I'm new at it too. Your English is pretty good. I listened to "China Lady", is that a Passion Pit sample in there? The track's not bad, the part starting around 2:10 needs some work. Although I see that you didn't do any mixing, so I guess that makes sense.Jowel Beets wrote:Piano sound still really loud, maybe it should be a bit more in the background. Now that you mention it I have heard that technique before. Yeah the production sounds good I just don't really care for house music so I can't offer much help.Fzang wrote:Hmm, I get what you mean.dutcher wrote:I was kind of expecting that open hi-hat to come back in when the beat sorta drops around 2:27 though.
