Clip Loop mode

Post by Caymus Cab » Mon Nov 14, 2011 5:03 pm

Is there a way I can have a *newly* recorded clip set at a default preset of 4, 6, 8 bars so that when it gets to the last bar it automatically loops to the start of the newly recorded clip.... kinda like how Maschine does.. you set the bars first.. record.. it loops.. etc.

Thanks

the Looper plug is what you are after i think...pretty much exactly what you describe needing

i dont think you can set up a clip to do that automatically, could be wrong....

You can do it with ClyphX (or, rather, a utility that comes with it), which allows a clip to be recorded for as long as the Global Quantization setting. So you'd use the GQ to set how many bars to record for.

sorry, I meant Midi... its a small thing I like on Mashine to automatically wrap around to the first bar as to avoid jerk movements towards clicking the clip to start its looping. Not a big deal was just wondering if there was a setting in Live to do this that I could have missed. I guess creating the midi clip before is the equivalent of setting the bars in Maschine.. 8)

here are some ways that may ease your workflow :

one way is to make an empty midi track with clips for 1/2/4/8/16 bars..
name the track "looped Midi Clips" or something like that.
drag it to your 'clips' folder in the library..(or any other)
'bookmark' the folder..
now you can just drag any of the empty clips whenever from the browser
(I try to save anything I can 're-use' to the library..
saves me much time setting up stuff)

another example
in my template writing set..
I have empty clips laid out on 4 drum tracks..
with different lengths..ready to loop

(might be obvious) you can double click on an empty clip slot to create an empty clip.
then you can simply enter a number (in the 'loop' section in the clip view)
for the length ...

as mentioned before clyphx ..
which is an awesome tool to be used with live regardless
