Re: iPad
There doesn't even need to be much reasoning. You got something new and insightful out of it that you didn't already know? I think you'd be disappointed most of all. That "lost" 70+ minute video is better.

Re: iPad
ok you three, you three know who you are too, so tell me just how long does the ipad battery last at full throttle, no energy saving mechanisms enabled?
Re: iPad
But that's literally full throttle (i.e. Continuous video playback with all connectivity options on, a test specifically designed to kill the battery as quickly as possible).
Depending on how much I use mine (iPad 1), I sometimes get two or three days to a charge, never less than a full day of use (although I never use Bluetooth, and I tend to keep the screen brightness fairly low unless I'm outside.)

Re: iPad
damn thats excellent. wish apples airbook was half that good.
Re: iPad
Different beast, really. The low power mobile processor in the iPad would be completely useless for running something like, let's say, Ableton Live.
Fun fact: in order to get the Air to be as thin as it is, the battery has no protective enclosure. Instead, it's held in several pouches that run the width of the device.
Less fun fact: It would be very bad if you were to bend or puncture one of those pouches. Potentially HazMat bad.

Re: iPad
I have an idevice sync/power cable plugged into the back of iMac in my bedroom at all times. In the same corner I have another idevice cable plugged directly into the wall because it charges idevices faster.
But that wasn’t enough. I recently bought another idevice power cable for next to my bed because lounging in bed is where I most frequently use my iPad and I don’t want to have to walk that 12 feet to my other idevice cables.
Such a chore.
Soon enough permanent idevice charging stations will be part of new house construction.
And as soon as that happens Apple will completely change the connection design.

Re: iPad
Battery life update: Been trying out iMockups to make wireframes for a web design job rather than my usual illustrator+Keynote combination (this app is actually pretty damn good).
Anyway, I've been using the thing all day. Wifi on, bluetooth off, some work, some web browsing, only turned brightness up when I've gone outside for cigarettes. Pulled the iPad off the charger at about 8:30, just died on me at 3:30.
God damn iOS 5.

Re: iPad
7 hours is pretty damn good for some all day out and about sample editing duties, it's getting warmer in here.
now if sample whiz would just go on and put a sample slicer in their sample wizard app with no slicer we could all get down to business proper.
and since I'm giving out upwardly mobile economic gems for free today I'll just put this out there for the ableton execs to fondle while they argue over which one of them really came up with the idea. It's time for an iwarp app for the ipad, that does nothing but warp and tag samples so that you could be out and about and whenever you got a moment you could warp some tunes, audio, blips and bleeps or whatever the kids are calling it these days. An app that's short and to the point, that doesn't get in the way of itself and try to be anything else, this would make it fast, easy, enjoyable and precious. If it has multiple lanes some could abuse it as a looper but I'm not talking about a looper, just a warp utility.
ok I'm done just make sure my free upgrade to live 9 gets lost in the same mail as every other Live upgrade I had to pay for, that'll be more than enough gratitude me thinks

Re: iPad
OMG, my idevices and computer won’t STFU about upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 which I have no intention of doing because it supposedly fixes a battery problem I don’t have and has been reported to not fix the problem or make it worse/exist for others. This is the kind of shit I’d expect from Windows.
