Hey guys,
Rookie live user here. Here's what I'm looking for...
I need a portable carrying case for my Launnchpad+Novation Nocturn+Macbook+Novation Nio soundcard.
I was considering the Stanton uberstand + 2 Macbook stands (from apple store) - one stand for the Launchpad and one for the Nocturn. This setup would mean some heafty cases...
Now, today I came up with this (please see link). It's a flightcase optimized for Traktor, but I could easily adapt it for my needs - maybe even no need for the stands.

Any suggestions other that this?
Share your live setups maybe...
Thanks!
Case for all my gear that serves as a stand
Re: Case for all my gear that serves as a stand
Hey Madureira,
The simpler, the better...as long as your gear is protected. If you can manage to eliminate the need for a case by consolidating gear into fewer cases, you will thank yourself in the long run. Unless you have roadies, you will want to keep it as streamlined as possible.
Best of luck to you!!!

That's a good design, I like the wide shelf above the main case area. Some of these type of cases are rather heavy, others are not so bad. Make sure you factor in the weight of the case in addition to the weight of your gear. Also consider how long you have to carry this around: short run from a vehicle to the gig, or long haul on public transportation for example.Madureira wrote:http://www.italmelodie.com/pages/imageV ... temID=2825
I used to haul around so much gear it was ridiculous! So carrying one case is definitely not too big a burden in my opinion. With a hard case you know that your gear is safe when its not in use, & a case provides much more security than stashing everything in a backpack or messenger bag. Locking cases are good too, just don't lose the key
As for stands you can pick a used one up & save some money. I have both Ultimate Apex & Quik Lok X-stands, & use what I need depending on the gig & gear. Both are good & easy to carry around.
I like having a self-contained rig, & being spared the ordeal of trying to figure out how to get all my gear setup around whatever else was in place. I also hate the whole bending down over a utility table to perform.
I've fantasized about those old suitcases with the retracting folding legs like you used to see people selling neckties & shoelaces out of in old movies.
