I play ambient music and if make a loop via a clip track I can't get seamless hold type loops, the starting of the loop can always be heard. Is there a way around this? Or can I use an effect to hold an instrument note - so for a synth, the oscillation will continue?
I want to be able to do this multiple synths/tracks. So say I have 4 synth tracks, I want to be able to freeze/hold three, "unarm" them and they play through the 4th synth track over the other three. I'd unarm the other tracks that way Midi data from my controller won't disrupt the other "holds" or trigger new, unwanted notes.
Any tips of tricks?

Hi, I think I know a solution for you:
Create some synth-based loop (something that doesn't re-trigger a sample but is of electronical origin)
1) Switch on the Hold Pedal for your loop/clip)
2) Change the loop bracked to within the clip (it's the upper one) - this changes "Loop Position" but leave the lower triangle at the start.
So the first time you start your loop you will hear the attack of your sound/synth but for every further repetition it will not sound.
This only works when having the Hold-Pedal Midi-Control enabled (it's Number 64).
Also the following might be useful for looping sounds (putthing these in a return and then tweaking Effects further down the chain in the send you are running Loopo for example so you can take realtime-snapshots of parts of your soundscape and tweak them):
-Reverb and setting a very high Decay Time and tweaking the parameters?
-Audio Effects->Filter Delay -> Loopo
And.. a Simple Delay with full Feedback can give interesting effects (you can also automate when exactly it switches on/fades out when you use it in the Arrangement or control it live. I love improvising with Delay over a Drum Track).
Good luck with your ambient music - I love ambient music.
