I read Tim Cook is more into meeting with companies to figure out their needs and Jobs leaned more towards fuck 'em. So businesses might start switching over. Who knows. Bro.

Okay, let's talk iCloud. Specifically, photo sync.

I've avoided everything to do with iCloud because it's scary.

In iPhoto I have photos stored in folders - only 1 layer deep because fucking Apple doesn't let you do nested folders in iPhoto.

I sync those photos to my iPad and iPhone, and the folders remain. Yippee.

But.....what about with iCloud? If I elect to use the cloud to sync photos onto my iPhone, will the folders stay intact? Or, when using iCloud, will the folders get trashed and all images just get loaded onto the iPhone in a massive heap?

I'm suspecting the later because Apple photohandling has always been complete ASS.

I don’t take enough photos to justify using iCloud for it, but I swear I’m about unauthorized every bit of iCloud and air syncing I have going on right now. Too many issues and exceptions. I just found out that if you decide to use Match and tell your idevices to sync with Match then you won’t be able to also sync playlists and songs using the cabled method. It all has to be done through the cloud. :x

I had a ton of issues with ical sync via iCloud, things getting duplicated or not transferred to a certain device or the laptop, some of my subscribed calendars only showing up for the first week of the month, etc. I've been backing up and restoring the same ical archive since i got my first MBP though, so I figured it was time to wipe it all clean and start over. Deleted everything and started from scratch via icloud.com, and now it all works perfectly.

I don't use the iPhoto stream thing either though, then again I don't really use iPhoto the way you're supposed to either. I still prefer manually naming and organizing my jpegs, and not letting iPhoto just store them in a random mess waiting for a single bug to make the whole lot all messed up.

LOL. The undeniably shit HP TouchPad that was discontinued 4 seconds after it was released managed to come in second place as most popular tablet.

And it didn’t run Android. So all Android tablets are ranked even below the pooptacular HP. :P

My 72 year old Aunt announced yesterday that she's going to buy a Kindle Fire because it's 'cute' and 'cheap'.

Bless her heart.

I would consider buying a TouchPad to run a custom build of Android on—the specs of the TouchPad are great, the industrial design is better than most Android tablets, and because HP are idiots TouchPads can now be had cheaper than almost any other tablet.

Until someone invents something better I can't see my primary tablet being anything but an iPad, but for my second or third (or for other people who don't yet own a Tablet and only have so much money to spend) a $100-150 TouchPad running CyanogenMod doesn't look too bad.

News reporting more people interested in the Fire for the holidays than the iPad and the main reason is it’s cheaper. Also I think past a certain age, let’s say 65, people aren’t really aware of speed or reliability benefits short of something completely getting bricked. Until I got my mom a new MBP a few months ago she was perfectly content on her ancient iMac which took an average of 2-3 minutes to open any application while the drive sounded like sand being forced through clock gears, and that’s if it even registered the open click. She was also perfectly content having to click several times over the 2 minutes because she was unsure if it registered the click. Shit just opened when it opened. That’s fine. :x

Are any of the other kindle readers or other anti-glare readers able to read PDFs?

I'm not sure how they work or if it's a special format for something like the kindle touch, but I wouldn't mind a non-glossy simple reader. I have so many books in PDF format though that I'd like to use.

cheers
