Re: RME Multiface 2
Honestly it really doesn't matter what OS or Live version you run, RME are extremely diligent about having up to date drivers and supporting both OS's perfectly. I've had an RME Fireface 800 for about 5 years now with zero issues of any merit, just a solid system. The one thing you get when you pay for a "premium" brand like RME is great support.
The only thing I would say is if you're on a Mac, Metric Halo make amazing sound cards that most people say the pre amps are comparable to boutique stand alone pre amps. RME's Pre amps are fine, just devoid of any color which some prefer, but for vocals for instance you'll probably want a stand alone.

Re: RME Multiface 2
Hi Lineworker.
I've been using RME interfaces for 5 years. The first one I bought was a MultiFace 2, almost after it replaced the original MF1. And it's the one I use daily on my studio.
It's been a high-quality rock solid interface with continuous driver updates and support throught these years. I doubt you're able to get lower latencies from anyother manufacturer. Zero problems with it. I bought the PCI bundle [the same as the one linked] but I also bought the XpressCard option for using it on my old notebook.
But, today, probably I wouldn't buy the MF2 but the Fireface UC.
Reasons:
* In the near future (almost right now) motherboards are no longer coming with PCI slots. Probably you should buy the PCIe card instead of the PCI one.
* If you want to use your MF2 with a laptop, you have to buy an additional 250 € card (the XpressCard controllers), and each day it's more difficult to find notebooks with XpressCard slots.
* Input/output speaking, the Fireface UC only losses 1 stereo line output against the MF2. Digitally both have the same I/O options.
* Input/output speaking, with the Fireface UC you gain 2 amazing mic-pres and 2 Hi-Z instruments inputs for free. MF2 has neither mic-press nor instrument inputs.
* Fireface UC is USB2. That means you can use it _everywhere_. It's USB implementation is very good, so support is wide. You can check supported systems on RME website.
* Fireface UC comes with the new TotalMix (without FXs but with the improve software).
* It costs the same as the MF2 bundle.
Hope this helps.

Re: RME Multiface 2
Forgot about the OS and Ableton.
Used the MF2 on Windows XP, Vista and 7 as well as Linux (Gentoo and Fedora).
Tested extensively with Suite 7 and Suite 8.

Re: RME Multiface 2
using two multiface v1's over pci with an additional convertor and it works perfectly with the latest version of live on win7.
