Anybody experiencing disappearin plugin windows in Win7

Post by Parametex » Wed May 19, 2010 12:11 pm

I'm having a annoying little problem with opened plugin windows in Live... when I'm tweaking a knob/parameter in the plug window (while keeping my mouse button pressed) many times the plugin window simpl disappears!

anyone else suffering from such annoyance?

Does this happen with all plug-ins or only particular ones? 32- or 64-bit Windows 7? Have you submitted this as a bug?

Thanks,

i don't know about the OP's problem.. but there have been a few times where i'll be holding down the mouse tweaking a parameter during playback and the (i don't know what you call it, so i'll just say) playback marker freezes until i release the button. why is that? happens on most, if not all, plugins. never bothered me much, but just kind of odd i thought. and it's nothing new.. been like that since i started using Live. 64-bit windows 7 but previously on vista 64-bit, too.

Thanks,
It happens on different plugins. Recently with Predator VSTi.

System is Win 7 64 bit ... I did not report this yet as i was wondering could it be my graphic cards fault etc etc but probably not.

I'll do some checking on my own w7 32 system, but it seems familiar to me.
It happened often, but since I was using the plugz with automap I assumed that was the problem.
Are you using automap?

No automap here, just plain goo ol' mouse ...

On detail: when tweaking a plugin knob (keepin the mouse pressed), after a while plugin window stops responding and if you let go things go back to normal, but if you continue tweaking (and keeping mouse down) the plugin window disappears when mouse button is finally lifted. Also the plugin down at the live track shows the small yellow icon meaning that the window is still open.

I experienced exactly the same issue using Xils Lab PolyKB. Tweaking a knob and keeping the mouse button down. After a while the plugin window disappears..
Macbook Pro Retina 2015, Live 9 Suite, Push, and a bunch of plug-ins I like :)

I think the disappearing window actually does not close but does "behind" the Live interface.

Same difference thought ... super annoying.

This is happening to me, and has always happened. It's reproducible EVERY time. It's on ALL plugins, and for me it ONLY happens when I click and drag and HOLD the mouse (which I often do when adjusting plugin knobs!), as soon as a few seconds elapse, the plugin window flashes, still remains on screen, but it does not update the knob movement anymore - values are adjusted I can hear them being adjusted as I move the mouse, but the visual feedback animation is completely gone.

Super frustrating bug.

I was thinking it was mouse related, or Windows 7 related (with Aero Peek or something perhaps) but I've made sure all that stuff is off.

How do we report this to Ableton? I can reproduce it 100% of the time across all plugins.
