I have fixed this problem. Ableton contacted me after submitting the ticket.

I uninstalled Microsoft Intellipoint software, and it works fine now.

I also have this problem with Win 7 and trackball. Never heard about Intellipoint before, but I'm going to give it a go.

same problem here, never had intellipoint on this pc though (win7 / 64).
i have to disable themes (ie make win7 look like win2000), that way the plugin windows don't disappear.

Why intellipoint disturbs Live to search plugin? What did intelligent Ableton support and intelligent Microsoft said?

Intellipoint and Intellitype and all that are drivers for microsoft input devices. If you have a microsoft input device, mouse, trackball, keyboard, etc, odds are it's installed there somewhere if you used the driver CD.

It fixed my problem 100%. Also, some plugins that didn't respond to scrollwheel now do.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I would DEFINITELY try native drivers, even if you have a logitech or other brand, it makes a little sense no? :)

Worth a shot!

Good luck guys.

As to what the Abes said, they simple said "we were unable to reproduce your problem, please try uninstalling intellipoint"

Ableton support is pretty stellar. Every time I have a problem they have the answer. Batting 300 so far :)

this shit happens with native drivers and a logitech mouse and an apple trackpad as well.
so it's NOT only an intellipoint problem.

For me it was in the control panels add/remove or programs and features (if you're on windows 7).

I empathize with you man. Just sharing the findings I had for others. If it happens with native drivers, that's a total bummer. When you say "native" are you referring to microsoft supplied ones where you just connect the mouse and it just works magically without any more foffin about?

Is your computer a notebook or desktop? Reason I ask, sometimes the "native" flavors for notebook trackpads, tits, etc, are actually factory supplied to microsoft FROM the vendor. HID devices (human interface devices) and bus native ones, that you buy and plug-in via USB are less suspect to this, but trackpads on a notebook are a totally different animal.

Hope you guys can get sorted, I can be of more help if the Abes need a case of: was broken but is now fixed, etc. Have them email me or whatever and I will cooperate to assist.
