my only grip with it
(and also TyrellN6..and the current DIVA)
lfos controls cannot be mapped..
what tha ?

also.. again..and this includes ACE.. no audio input !
what's a modular without audio input ?!
why not take emulation that extra mile...?

Urs says it's performance issues..
but I think it's really important feature for all of his modulars..
and would raise the 'value' of his synths (at least imo)
IIRC Urs said that the lfo's in Diva will be mappable. There are various parameters currently not available for automation but that will be for the shipping version.

Do you have any relation with Diva deva?

You can do that sort of random tuning in Zebra already...Use the mod mappers. After Diva initial release then Zebra 2.6 is the next up with some new modules and likely a couple more mod mappers.

If you're referring to the fact that the lfo parameters aren't mappable, don't worry, they will be. Urs is adding the rest of the automation parameters that are missing soon enough.
yeah...
he could do it for TyrellN6 and Bazille while he's at it..
Bazille is not even beta, just an alpha version with quite a bit missing.

Thanks guys :)

Re. automation... there are some relics form old times when Live could only automate the first 128 parameters inside a plugin. We haven't found the time yet to correct these things. All parameters are supposed to be automatable in the final though.

Clemens, Howie and I are currently debugging and optimising the sound. We've released this beta to see what people think about the sound, and there are still a few odd ends to tackle.

Diva sounds different from the synths she draws her inspiration from, mostly because she's got a more open and clear sound. Some say sterile, but I don't see it that way. In direct comparison I almost always prefer Diva. Those little things we're working on are mostly related to the mix and match approach. For instance, the "clean" mode of the OTA Ladder has a tad too little Resonance (which we missed). Some people have thus compared the "rough" mode to their Jupiter 8s, which is, hmmm, not quite right then. Adding more resonance to the "clean" one would sound closer, to give one example.

Another issue is some sort of "fade in" or "build up" of the voices during attack. We found a fundamental flaw in the method we're using for analogue waveform generation. Once we fix that I'm certain that the attacks will sit just right :)

In any case, the general behaviour of the individual modules is extremely close to the originals. We've come up with some unpredictable sounds in our MS-20s that we thought won't possible work in Diva, but then somehow they do - just a bit more polished and in your face.

#---

Regarding the product matrix and all, the technology we explored for Diva is a building block on the way to ACE XL and Berlin Modular. The FX section in DIVA is even a building block that offers a solution for the currently axed Uhbik-X (yes, I hate that I once promised it, and then couldn't get there...). It's all going to shape up eventually.

As for multicore support - we'll try something. We've seen it working well in another synth, so I guess it's possible.

Regarding inputs... we will add inputs to some stuff once we get to do VST3. There are too many quircks and support incidents if we start this while we rely on VST2.

Cheers,

;) Urs

very good news Uhe !..
glad to hear that controlling the lfos.. audio inputs...
are on the list..

Diva sounds excellent of course..but you know this..
I really like your take on emulation..
this will all lead to an awesome modular..no doubt!

you rock man !
(sorry to get all excited.. but..controlling lfos is very fun you see?)

Not just lfos! Controlling every single switch or bottom or menu item from hardware is also very fun!

Hi, that's certainly an accidental MIDI learn - right-click cutoff and select "MIDI Unlearn"
