External Hard Drive to Swap Tracks Between Win XP and OSX?

Hey folks,

I am running Live on Windows XP and my friend in another city has OSX and is planning to get Live soon. I have heard it is possible for me to save track information on an external hard drive and send the drive to her and she can open it up with her OSX version of Live and manipulate the tracks, then send it back to me, etc. . . . Does Live works across platforms like this? If so, can anyone recommend a good (and hopefully inexpensive) hard drive that would do the trick? Any comments on USB 2 or Firewire for delivering the tracks in and out of my computer? Thanks!

oh, and huge thanks to ableton--since 2.0 I have basically scratched cubase off my list of purchases . . . For what I am doing, I don't know why I would ever need it.

yeah easy.. all you need to do is make sure the drive is formated FAT32 (which has its limitations on partition size).

cderum have you thought about just burning a CD or DVD with the session
on it.

thanks for the reply. I will probably end up just trading burned cd's. but I am interested in hard drive swapping because I can have lots of other data on there to exchange as well, in addition to the track information.

Hi,
I use a HFS+ formatted firewire harddisk on my pc. Theres some software called macdrive, that makes windows mount macintosh disks. I use it in live as well, and can play up to 28 tracks simutaneously. FAT32 has the disadvantage, that it can only work with a limited drive capacity.
