Sorry if this was posted under a different phrasing but haven't found anything searching the forum.
I'm doing a major over haul of my recording setup and was hoping for a smoother work flow on clean install of OSX 10.6 with Ableton 8.2.6.
Meanwhile I also have a clone of my previous 10.5 setup which I need to migrate over.
I'm imagining the best way is to package the projects into .alp ? as apposed to "collect all and save" then move the project folder over? Any ideas on preferable method?
Which brings me to my main questions.....
1. Is there anyway to view what plug ins, both Live and third party, were used on each project ? I have hundreds of projects and use ALOT of plugins some with upwards of 70+ tracks..... Scrolling through each track to find what FX was used will take for ever!
I was planning on moving the more important projects and installing plugins on an as needed basis so some kind of list\log would be great! Is opening the project and waiting for the "plugin missing" message the only way?
2. In Live's browser is there anyway to indicate a "favorites" plugins ? Or at least make the VST folder more manageable by adding my own subfolders? I've tried creating folders in Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST but it didn't show up in Live. I'm curious why\how some third party vendors have both AU and VST folders yet some have only AU ? I noticed Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components contains no folders. Something to do with Apple vs Steinberg ??
Any advice or suggestions on methods you've used would be awesome !!
