New [multi-touch] Controller

Post by methodamericon » Wed Nov 30, 2011 7:55 am

Looks neat. Didnt see anything about it on here yet. Not sure how useful it would be in ableton yet, but seems pretty cool regardless.

Only 4 touch points? That's a bit pap.
It does look lovely, but I suspect it will be beyond the financial stretch of most of us mere mortals.

Pretty, but probably better off just making the same frame and have the ipad slide into it.

22" is so much nicer, though. If you figure they're aiming at competitive ipad pricing, it can't be that bad; hopefully the biggest drawback being 4 touch. They probably had to get the next best thing to "gorilla" glass and are using open source touchosc like s/w so hopefully it's 4-600$. Maybe MSRP $800?

Same guys, same software, I've got a feeling this thing is going to be expensive as hell.

Not for me, looks nice though.

Way to thick for me. Rather use 2 iPads. I personally prefer the thinnest ergonomicaly possible. If weight is needed, users can put it on themself. Heres one that I dont need, but seriously consider to buy, just because what it does, it does so right: http://www.keithmcmillen.com/QuNeo/

-super thin and light
-sturdy
-usb powered
-flexible 3 directional controllers (x, y + preasure)
-soft editor
-led feedback

Hell yes for the QuNeo. Imagine a 4x4 layout of those.

The initial price of this will be $2499. Be better off getting 3 ipads, and having each control a different aspect of ableton...griid...touchable...and whatever else on the third.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said. The QuNeo looks innovative, practical, intuitive, and [quite simply] functional. Also, as resistant as I was to the Ipad in the 'controller' market originally [love the tactile buttons/pots/faders yadda yadda...], I'm starting to really see the beauty in the touchscreen controller ethos. I look forward to trying Lemur.

Yep. I like their style and designs, but with prices that are on par with luxury toys and completely valid, high quality, flexible competition like the ipad, Smithson-Martin is going to have to bring more to the table than just 'wows' and 'bling'.

Yep. And I don't even see Angry Birds on this thing.
