How to beatmatch a midi clip to the current song tempo?

Post by jsrobinson » Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:05 pm

Hello all,

I'm working on an arrangement that's 150bpm. I have a midi clip that's originally 192bpm.

What's the correct way to the midi clip to the song such that the midi clip, plays at the same original "speed", and isn't slowed down by the slower song tempo? Is there a proper way to do this? I basically want the "raw" midi song to play in the 150bpm arrangement without warping. Thanks for any advice!

put the midi clip in its own scene (row)...rt click on the scene number and choose edit tempo...set the tempo what you want for that bit...

Hi, I see no "Edit Tempo" option under the right click menu for the clip,

All I see is the "original tempo" which sets itself to the song tempo, not the clip. I've disabled warping as well which didnt import the clip at the correct tempo.

Where would I find "Edit Tempo"? Thanks

not in clip view,...along the rt side, running vertically you have your scenes, numbered 1-20 or so, put your midi clip in its own scene, rt click that scene # and youll see, "edit launch tempo", put your tempo there...or just highlight the scene # and type '192 bpm' in place of the scene #

Ah thank you! Not to be a noob, but, how would I play both scenes at the same time? I.E. I want to play my original scene which is 150bpm and the MIDI scene which is 192. Also when I changed the launch temp it seemed to alter the tempo for the entire track.

Edit: As in, it's only playing one scene at a time. This seems logical, but I'm wanting to play the original song, and the faster MIDI simultaneously.
