snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
It would be really cool if you could take a snapshot of all of the current setting for faders, knobs and instruments.
This would allow you to mixdown the various different sections of a song in session view and then just hit recall during recording to the arrangement view so that all of the values for faders/pan etc would jump back to the correct values for that section of the song.
I'm thinking a panel of renameable buttons with a different snapshot per button, you click the number, and then you have to turn a knob to control the transition from the current value to that snapshots values. So you'd end up with a panel of buttons called, intro, verse 1, verse 2, chorus etc etc.
This would save heaps of time editing envelopes, and would make for a much more spontaneous and fun creation process.
A further improvement would be to have a project snapshot device to take a snapshot of the entire project(as above), but also to have a track snapshot device to be placed on individual tracks to store and recall settings for all of the devices/instruments on that track only, again with the transition controlled by a knob. This would allow for some seriously expressive control over the sound of the current track. For example you might have a violin that you want to fade in and out of legato, so you'd have a snapshot for long bows with reverb, and a snapshot for legato with less reverb, then during performance or recording you'd just select the effect you wanted and transition in and out of them on the fly.
For the track snapshot device it would be handy to have an option to show snapshots taken for currently playing clip on that track, or show all snapshots for that track, just to make the relevant snapshots easier to find if there are a lot on the current track.

Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
Another thought, It would probably be better to have a track and project section on the same device, with the ability to select different tracks directly from the device, instead of having to scroll horizontally on the session view to select the track whose snapshots you want to control (the track snapshot section updating accordingly), to make it easier to make rapid changes of both project and track snapshots during recording/live performance.
Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
I've just found this which is similar http://liine.net/en/products/kapturepad/ , more the Ipad version though.........hmmmm, think I might have to invest in an Ipad! Anyone want to buy an APC40 hardly used and boxed?

Just download Clyphx, I use this feature all the time!!!

Can you control the speed of the transition from current parameter values to snapshot parameter values?lapieuvre wrote:Just download Clyphx, I use this feature all the time!!!
For example if the current value of the pan on track one is set to full left, and the snapshot value is set to full right, i'd like to twizzle a knob or use an xy pad to control the speed at which the pan goes from left to right.
Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
The snap function in Clyphx just snaps the value. If I would want to change it I would use a dummy clip. Or map the xy pad to this knob, but that is the only thing it would control...

Oh right, its not really what i'm after then. I want to take snapshots of all parameters in the project and then morph into any of them from whatever the current array of parameters are set to.
Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
It would be cool if there was the option to specify the speed of transition for each parameter too for extra control. Just like keyframing in animation packages using a graph/bezier line. Straight line for even transition, flat line with sharp rise for that parameters snapshot value to suddenly come in near the end of the snapshot morph(controlled by the morph knob/xy panel)

You should look at max for live

Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
I'm interested in learning max 4 live, I had a look at liine's Kapture max plugin, which is what I want but without the morphing capability. I had a look at the max device, and it seemed to use javascript for the logic....does anyone know if you can integrate vb.net with max, instead of java?
Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
I've been whining about wanting a feature like this for years and now that Kapture has come along, I don't want to pay for M4L... so thank you for the ClyphX recommendation!
I really think either scene capture like this, or just program change capability for Live devices (as in launch a clip, preset changes, not manual dragging-and-dropping) should be a basic feature of Live, not an add-on.

Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
wow, using kapture has increased my workflow massively, just wish you could morph between presets though to ease into the new settings rather than having a sudden dramatic and noticeable change.
Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
I think snapshots should be an option for the scenes :`capture and insert scene with snapshot´
The snapshot should include a saved preset of each device and should handle snapshotchanges(scenechanges) in an intelligent way :
- if a new device is added, all older scenes automatically deactivate this device
- reverbs and delays should not be hard-muted, but overlap at a scenechanges
Best, tzee
P.S.: multiple midichannels for vst devices are very much needed

Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
You can still use Clyphx in conjunction with another script utility called Macrobat which will allow you to use a macro knob to morph between 2 snapshots.

Re: snapshots of current parameter values for entire project
Did anybody every figure out a way to morph between global snapshots? The closest thing I have found so far is Kapture Pad which is ok except it doesn't allow you to morph on an XY table, Snapshot Morpher by Covert Operators is amazing, but only allows for tweaking of 16 settings- not all of the settings for a project. Any suggestions would be appreciated immensely. Thanks!
