This song sounds like every other NIN song I've heard...oh well I'll have fun remixing it.

I downloaded.

What a great example of good recording techniques and arrangements. Very interesting for any newcomer and not so newcomer to the world of recording. Cant you just hear those top class mics and compressors.

And how interesting is it to hear th eFX that were printed. Sound dodgy on their own, but in the mix-----Cool

Years ago I used to dream about getting hold of the master tapes from bands I liked so I could study them and learn from them. I remember a friend of mine went to some demo thing years ago and the song being demoed was Phil collins "Another Day in Paradise" using the original master tapes. Everyone was blown away at how basic individual tracks sounded.

I dont think newcomers realise how lucky they are thesedays.

Download this NIN track and LEARN about recording and songwriting.

Anyone notice that the lead vocals don't show up in the file browser? They only appear in the song itself. Odd.

I think its really cool of him to do this...

I'd be REALLY interested to see what some off you cats do with this...it would be educational.

Hopefully some people will post a link to their remix!

I'm on Firefox too...though on a MAC...Adamjay's original link still works for me.

Maybe try just googling www.nin.com or whatever the "basic" web address is, and then click on "access" and then...etc.

this is really neat that trent has been releasing the song files for tunes. i look forward to checking it out.

my only gripe is that he put the weakest song on the album out as a single.

:( feh.

oh well...geekery shall ensue nonetheless!

Well, if you're interested, here is a torrent file (meaning you need to install bittorrent on your computer, then download this little torrent file to your desktop and double click it to launch bittorrent, which will begin downloading the real files) of the 40 best (at least in one person's opinion) remixes resulting from NIN's making the first single ("The Hand That Feeds") available in Garageband format a month ago. (I think alot of people just exported the audio and remixed in real programs.)

And one I rather like (and this is just a straight MP3 link to one song):

In case anyone didn't know--the Digidesign Protools file package has additional audio files that didn't make it into the final mix. You can import them into Live just like any other audio.
