I could be wrong thinking this way, but I get tired of reading reviews of new apps that are complaining that they won’t work on the iPad 1. There was a huge performance increase in the processor in the iPad 2 and is possibly the only reason to buy a 2 over the 1 (ignoring the shit cameras). Oh, and mirroring with iOS 5. Obviously some developers are going to take advantage of that performance boost. If I still had an iPad 1 I wouldn’t expect all new apps to work on it by default, but I might be alone on that. I’m sure when the iPad 3 and 4 come out there’ll still be people droning on about new apps not working on an iPad 1. :x

Fucking pathetic that Amazon sells the Fire at cost, then actually convinces consumers that their $200 investment in that piece if shit was actually a bargain.

The Fire is the Trabant of tablets.

But it states clearly that you can get a flawless wired connection with iConnectMIDI.

I have to be at work at 7 and typically have a 30-45 minute commute.

But also I'm a morning person. If I don't drink the night before I've been known to be doing laundry at 5 AM on weekends. By 9:30 AM I've done laundry, gone for a walk, ate breakfast, and hit up Safeway and/or Target.

Power nap around 2 PM.

This is my sad reality too :x last time I spent this much on an app was the Wolfram|Alpha one. They eventually refunded the early adopters when they brought the price down to like €2... can't see JazzMutant doing that after the iPad rendered their hardware obsolete in a couple of short years though :D .

I admit that I’m the common denominator in these controller apps that don’t quite work as advertised and I have very little patience with setup and unreliability. About 5 minutes is my limit before I just give up. But I also think the competition between TouchAble, TouchOSC, and Liine will inspire great improvements in usability and reliability. So my investment now will pay off later assuming I ever get around to giving a shit. :x

TBH if I can assign pitch to Y and bitcrushed filter or something to X and then throw around a few bouncy balls this will more than pay for itself in therapy fees. Anything more is a bonus :D

Hopefully the Lemur app will be easier to set up than the physical Lemur was. It sure took more than five minutes of concentration time. That said, Mu was rad. It was the controller that Live always needed. A Session View controller that gave you real time feedback and even includes the names in the clips. I'm doing mostly acoustic music these days, but when I go through another electronic phase I could see myself plopping down the $49. It would just be nice if the set up is Apple-like and simple.

When I say five minutes I mean 2 minutes to setup and then 3 minutes before they either lose connection or don’t update/sync properly more than once. At that point I say fuck it and wait for an update while I plow through the latest in tower defense and time management games.
