Global midi mapping for generic controller

Hello, I'm fairly new to ableton, and would like to use my NI maschine to control ableton live 8. I only work in arrangement view, and never use session view, or clips. All the templates that ableton and maschine users and makers provide aren't what I want or need. I need help setting it up. I have no idea how to go about doing what i want. All I want is:
1. a global track selector, so i can scroll through tracks and play notes on the selected one.
2. a volume control for the selected track.
3. and if possible, for the 8 macros on a track to be assigned to the 8 top knobs on the maschine.(so if I scroll to one track, the knobs on the maschine already control the macro knobs on that track. and when i scroll to the next track, the same thing. and the next, ect.)

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for inspiring me! Create two layouts:

One will be based off of the Tranzport script

The other would be a basic User Remote Script

Tranzport script probably uses midi channel 1 so I'd do 'playing notes' on a different channel.

Another option may be to investigate the Mackie Control template that is on Maschine.

I can't picture or understand what you mean, with the trazport script, that it. Please indulge me. And I have messed with the mackie control template and changed it so the pads play notes instead of firing clips. however I had a couple issues with it that made it more frustrating than useful. im just gonna use the mackie control. I duplicated the mackie template and replaced all the pad pages with the default pad pages from a "new template" in the editor, then assigned all the pads to channel 2, and now I can just switch from one to another to play notes on the pads and it can control pans volume mute and solo vpots and track select. the only thing i don't get is why when i select a track it doesn't automatically arm it(make it playable).

just thought i would update that in mackie control template pad page D has the arming control, they call it the record page, but it isn't global, just for arming the track you want to record on. The only thing i'm missing now and can't figure out is how to use my maschine to control macro knobs on a device using the mackie template.
