Everyone that is impressed by the new Asus Prime just goes to show you how little impact the Asus Eee Pad Transformer had. It's been out for a while now, and it's nearly identical to the Prime. Some people bought the Eee Pad, but in the grand scheme of things, it was merely a fart in the wind. Let's see how hot the Prime is in four weeks.

I used slideshark and it was fine. It uploads the powerpoint from ypur laptop , converts it and then you log into their site and download it to your ipad. Takes about ten minutes.8O wrote:Gentlemen,
Any recommendations for presentation-style/powerpoint-ish apps for the iPad? Want to do an image-based presentation, in landscape orientation, so I could just do it on the laptop and convert to PDF and display on the iPad using iBooks, right? Don't need any fancy transitions, though embedded video might be nice. Oh, and it'll be displayed on the iPad, don't need a connection to a bigger screen/projector... ideas?

It was widely reported a week or so ago that Microsoft is busy working on Office for the iPad. It was also speculated that Office for the iPad will be a good preview of how Office will work on Windows tablet and if it will be SHIT.
I think the latest version of Office for desktops is SHIT, at least the PC version. It's like they took 18 steps backwards. They totally buried the most common functions and the UI looks like a Reaktor ensemble.

I say THANK GOD. They'll probably fuck it up, but at least there's some small hope that PowerPoint hyperlinks will work.

I just found out this past weekend that iVI can tag your movie files with all the pertinent info and artwork after the fact. I was all anal about tagging TV shows properly because it can be confusing if you don’t scrolling through all the episodes, but I wasn’t that much with movies. Beyond artwork and the title there really isn’t much more that you need to know what you’re going to watch. But since iVI makes it relatively painless then why not.
Drag a movie already in your iTunes library into iVI, double click the movie to show the info, and then hit the search button it will update the file with description, actors, director, date of release, genre, most common artwork and film rating (PG, R, etc.) Then there’s a button in the bottom left to save info to existing file. Done. FYI if you go to iTunes and the added info doesn’t display if you right click the movie and get info it will then populate in iTunes.
Also saw on the developers site it will rip DVDs if you buy the PRO version directly from them that’s not available on the App Store. It appears to be the same price. I’m sure they probably can’t offer that version on the App Store because of licensing/pirating issues.

Re: iPad
iVI remains one of my most cherished purchases of 2011, and it's ALL THANKS TO YOU, BEATS.
I'm hesitant to buy the Lemur app. It looks promising, but where's my fucking clip grid? touchAble still seems like the best way to go in terms of just firing off clips and easily controlling levels.
