Sorry that was a jerk response. Dont get me wrong, I dont appreciate Ableton's false advertisement on share, but it hasn't prevented me from enjoying making music with Live 8. Look on the bright side man, when Live 9 is released you only have to pay the upgrade price if you choose too.

for your information, share and looper was what sold it for me, and neither share, nor looper was working. looper still doesn't work properly, and still launches random loops that are being kept in the buffer even after the buffer has been "cleared", so yeah. i got screwed. looper only works with one loop, and only occasionally. some people swear by it and use it extensively and that's good for them but as we know with this software it's super stable on certain setups while completely unuseable on some other setups.

take a look at the thread about the latest version. some people are having a great time with it while some people crash all the time.

Generally speaking, personal computer isn't best for live audio processing. It runs system and processing so many information background other than audio to run computer without any issue. The stability is its first prioriyty from the birth of it. It has of course lag. The perfect looper which can be used in any huge concert stage, this type of task is hardest demand for computer I think. You need dedicated gear for them.
But youre situation seems worse than this type of argument. That advertisement hype seems beyond acceptable degree. They should have written "TRY BEFORE BUY" in every page when they were going to hype.

2) make it easier to integrate with other DAWs. (right now rewire is crippling and bouncing down tracks just to mix in a different DAW is almost pointless.)

Change "Rendered Track:" drop down to "All Tracks"
Choose remaining settings to taste
Click "OK"


you cannot rewire more than one "different DAW" at all... aka "Pro" DAWs... so i'm assuming you must not know about this particular feature because it would be "pointless" in those DAWs as well... but your point is moot either way.

If you're a Windows user Fruity Loops can rewire or run as a VSTi in another DAW. I think this applies with Energy XT as well.
Someone claimed that Reaper could host VSTi's as a Rewire slave. Mainly with Live you have the option to run it in Master or Slave mode, but you lose third party AU and VSTs.

I've used Live for a few years now and while I can say that it has a lot of great features, all in all if you compare it many other audio software, it remains so unprofessionally designed. Saving multiple mixes within a session, Locking multiple tracks together, de-consolidating windows, these are just a few of the many things Live does not do. I Remember how many years it took them to offer the most basic crossfade option. I still can't understand how people at Ableton can be so innovative in some part and so primitive in others. Does anyone out there share that same sense of frustration?

Not a lot of DAWs can save multiple mixes in a session. I've got Logic 8 and Digital Performer 7 on this laptop and only DP7 has multiple mixes in the same project.

Also, Live has a strict GUI thing going on. The originators all hated with a passion floating windows, so Live's own plug ins don't float. In fact nothing pops out of a consolidated window from Live except dialog boxes and third party VSTs. I would almost expect screen sets before multiple monitor support, but even that hasn't happened in 8 full versions so I'm not counting on it.

But slice tool pop up window everytime when we slice it. It surely means it needs popup window when we are going to work in arrangement. (if Live get separated single-window session view and multi-monitor supported arrangement view this kind of inconsistency will rarely occur, and have more functionality)
