launch / trigger Maschine clips from Ableton

Post by h0ch.grat » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:08 pm

Hi

I got a problem with Maschine, and hope you can help me?

When I program beats in Maschine, I do so and then drag the Midi files from Maschine to Ableton.
There I got a channel with midi to and from Maschine, and so I trigger the sounds in Maschine just like in any VST plugin, and that works fine.

But I don't want to copy/drag the midi files all the time, but just trigger the existing clips IN Maschine.
I want to click on one clip in ableton that triggers one specific clip in Maschine. Guess I should do something like dummy clips, but cannot figure out how to do it here...

Anyone with a simple step by step tutorial would be my hero for the rest of the week ;)

You can trigger patterns or scenes in Machine using various settings of either Program Change, or midi note, also taking midi channel into account. I personally have yet to decide how I want to have the settings on mine :/

Also take into account the quantization settings and th retrigger settings for scenes and patterns on Maschine.

Thanks,
I figured it out an hour after I wrote this question...
Thanks a lot for your reply.

If I write the midi data in ableton (one channel for each group in Maschine, midi paterns in ableton that trigger the respective samples in Maschine) - easier to handle in ableton, but I lack important functions of Maschine then, like the 'swing' knob..., less 'live' feeling but rather preprogrammed, fixed situation.

If I write the midi data in Maschine, the sound gets better in terms of variability, options to tweak things in realtime, but creating 60+ scenes in Maschine in a row, triggering those via midi note/ program change in ableton is a bother to set up...

Not sure wich option is better for my workflow on stage.
what's your experience with this?
