HELP! Project crashes every time I try to open it

Post by vgermani » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:44 pm

This is getting very frustrating. Fix one thing, break another.

I have a relatively complicated project. There are a bunch of Midi tracks that just connect/output to external gear. I have some local tracks that send midi cc info and are mapped into internal controls using the Mac IAC driver (mapping cc data to turn on/off midi monitor. The last thing I've done was to insert a max device that sends data to an external max patch to send midi song select info. I also have several Arturia V-Collection plugin tracks.

I had everything up and running and working. I closed live then tried to reload. It crashes EVERY TIME! I start Live fine. I load the project, it seems to start my plugins, then starts max, then crashes. It could either be the max device or, more likely, the arturia plugins since they have crashed live many times.

Is there a way to start a live set with plugins and external devices disabled? I really don't want to have to rebuild this set. It took forever to finally get things working.

Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm on Live 8.2.6 on Mac OSX 10.6.8.

Thanks!

On the suggestion on another thread, I just tried opening up a blank/default live set, I disabled EVERY midi port including in/out, sync, remote, and it still crashes.

It could still either be the arturia plugins or the max device.

Still looking for ANY suggestions.

Ok. The problem was the arturia plugins...very disappointing. I called ableton support and they informed me that holding down 'alt' while launching live disables the plugins. I was able to open up the live set and delete the tracks containing the plugins. Everything (including the custom Max device) seem to be functioning perfectly.
