4.1.4 crashes on Close Live Set, huh?

Post by pteittinen » Sun Jun 26, 2005 9:30 pm

I had a not-yet-authorized installation of Live v4.1.1 on my HD for a while. Today I downloaded v4.1.4 and installed it into the same directory, then proceeded to authorize it via web. Everything went smoothly and I started a new project from scratch.

Imported a few MIDI tracks and started playing around with T.C. Electronic Powercore Firewire's native plug-ins, mostly the 01 synth. Also fooled around with ReFX Vanguard 1.1 for a while. After approx. 30 minutes of testing I saved the set. Then I selected Close Set from the File menu, and up popped an error message (Live's, not Windows') telling me to save my work and restart the application.

However, I was unable to get rid of the error message. Clicking on OK brought it right up again, as did clicking on the 'x' icon on the top right corner. I couldn't shut down Live either by regular means, as the error message just kept on popping up again. Finally I had to use the End Process function of Windows Task Manager.

I've since discovered that simply by having three MIDI tracks play two instances of Vanguard and one instance of Powercore 01 for just a minute is enough to destabilize Live. I can save the set, but trying to Close it means trouble.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+, two gigabytes of RAM, Windows XP SP2 (with the latest MS 1394 hotfix), MSI Neo2 Platinum mobo, E-MU Emulator X (E-MU 1010 PCI card and E-MU 0202 I/O Daughter card)

I've heard that Live and Powercore have been known to lock horns at times.

Perhaps this is one of the symptoms?
