Quick question regarding MIDI Clip notes

Recently started screwing around in Ableton, one thing I noticed that I dunno how to fix is that when i make a note in a MIDI clip, and I make the note longer, it doesn't change the sound. The "longer" note will make the sound at the beginning, and then it will be followed by silence, instead of a constant sound.

Maybe not the best description of whats happening but any ideas as how to fix?

Dunno. Maybe the decay/release of the instrument is just inherently shorter than the length of the note you are trying to create. For example, a staccato string pluck is not going to make noise longer just because you made the note longer. Are you using any automation, e.g., volume or speaker, that would stop the note prematurely? What instrument are you using? Need more info...

The note shown in the red box marked 1 and the note shown in the green box marked 2 both give me the same sound (C3 specifically).

BUT..the duration of the sound is not affected even though in the green box it is should have a longer duration of sound.

If still unclear....imagine the red box being someone saying the letter A. The green box SHOULD represent someone saying the letter A and holding that sound for the duration that I choose.

Instead the green box is exactly the same as the red box, the note is played, then followed by silence.

I have not changed any settings and DL'd the 30-day trial version off the main page. I have zero add-ons or VST's etcetc as of right now.

Yeah, what levimoniz says. Making a note longer does not "stretch" the sound. It's just as if you pressed a key on a keyboard and held it down longer.
