64bit plugins not recognized

I'm running windows 7 64bit with Live 8.2.2 and I noticed whenever I install a plugin (both 32bit and 64bit versions) only the 32 bit version shows up in Live.

Why is this?

Live is 32 bits, 64 bits plugings doesnt work.
Surely Live 9 will be 64 bits, but please dont start that discussion again!

Music couldn't possibly be made in 32 bit. It's a real travesty and career killing.
