launchpad and 7up problems

Post by jonbongjovi » Fri Jan 06, 2012 12:23 pm

hey guys,

So i just picked up my launchpad its pretty cool and i'm trying to get some monome emulation stuff going.. I've had some limited success with 7up but for some reason only the step sequencer seems to work nothing else?

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Jon

monomeemu is one of the better options if you're using m4l

Monomeemu is really good at what it does, but there is a lot more in 7up. I had similar issues when trying to set both of these up. Play around with local port and destination ports and the OSC prefix needs to be right too. While you can use autoconfig, it does not always work for me, so try manually setting these and see if that works.

I know you probably have already, but make sure there is one "SevenUpCore" device in your liveset as all 7up devices are controlled through this. It is worth reading up UDP as well to get a better understanding at to how everything communicates through OSC between the patches. I kinda just figured it out after playing around with it for a while.

well yeah, but 7up is a monome application (not an emulator), monomeemu is the emulator, it's just for translating the launchpad midi messages into osc. I was of the understanding that you placed the 7up core after the emulator, hence the suggestion when the OP asked what a good monome emulator would be.

Sorry, you're dead right! For some reason I was confusing monomeemu with polygome - been a while since I messed around with it.

To the OP, I opened something I had been working on a while back using 7up and if you can see the step sequencer working, everything should be set up okay. To go into a different mode, make sure that there is one solid light on (should be the top one and no others should be blinking) in column 8. If there is another one blinking, hit the solid one again. Now you can choose a different mode by hitting a different pad in column 8. Note when there is another light blinking in column 8, you are choosing that sample/loop/sequence etc within whatever mode you are in. Hope that makes a little sense! To see which modes are where, just have a look at the manual.

heh well I've got it working more or less.. I can now switch between the 7up modes and its all pretty damn cool, I wasnt expecting this much potential out of my launchpad.

The only problem I'm having is with melodizer 2. For some reason I can't get my oxygen midi keyboard to send to the melodizer 2. It doesnt have the routing option in ableton to send midi to, only send audio to..
