I've been playing around with my launchpad for a while, but one thing that bugs me is the fact that the LED behaviour is kind of akward for what I want to do. For example, I use the launchpad as a sequencer, so that a loop scrolls from top to bottom through Follow Action, but as it is right now the launchpad flashes the pad that holds the loop currently playing AND lights up the next pad that is going to be played due to the follow action in a green light.
I know that the launchpad recives midi-information on certain channels to light up the LEDs, so I was wondering, shouldn't I be able to use something like midi-yoke to choke the midi-data from ableton that it sends "hardwired" in the mapping, and replace it with the same information but sent from midi-yoke?
I've been able to use a midi-channel sending data to the launchpad in User 1 mode to have just a yellow dot move down from top to bottom, if I manually press each midi-clip containing the data, but if I set up a follow action to scroll through the row I keep getting that little green dot UNDER the one currently playing. THAT is the one I want to choke.
Is it possible to choke individual messages with midiyoke?

Not sure with just MIDI Yoke but with Bome MIDI Translator it is possible. You can send the Launchpad into Bome first and then send it out on another port (such as a MIDI Yoke port) and then receive data back from Ableton into Bome and send back to the LP. Within Bome you can then change the MIDI data to send different data, different channel, change note to CC etc etc... It's a MUST tool for anyone with more than a couple of controllers that wants to have everything play nice and easily configured.
The purchased version has a lot more flexibility and does cost $99 but is well worth it. There is a bit of a learning curve (took me a good few months to get fully over it) and for me it's worth it since I have 9 MIDI controllers that need to play together.
Another option for customising the LP may be Max for Live. I have not looked into M4L as I already have too many distractions and don't need to add programming devices to that too but it might be worth a look into. I think you can get a demo for it.
