Whenever I arm an Audio Track, there's a base level of noise

I'm at loss of pre-amps and controllers, so I've been trying to run my microphone directly to my computer (after the phantom power). But whenever I arm the audio-track, there's this base level of noise. A bit more than you'd expect, and it makes recording acoustic guitar unbearable.

I unplugged my mic completely, than armed the audio track again, and I'm still getting a base level of noise. It's at a constant tone and frequency, and if needed I could record the noise if needed.

Any suggestions? I heard Cubase has some built-in noise-reduction, but I was just checking if this was something wrong with Ableton or my computer as a whole.

1 check...go into the audio settings on your comp and make sure the rec input level is not way high (i rec bass at only about 5-10% and it comes in clean), or that there is a mic boost on, dont want that ...

also, crossed cables and grounding your power sources..more possibilities too....

Are you monitoring your input when you arm the track?
