These controllers are all about quality.
I used them (OHM, Code and Block) and was stunned by their build quality.
The knobs, faders and buttons all feel really good and the cases are made of anodized aluminum.
Build like a tank!

If you can live with a 4x4 grid, I would go for the CNTRL:R

i didn`t have the same experience. on the second day a plastic piece went away in my block. no big deal. was repaired in 5 minutes. in my opinion a apc felt much better. but : so many companies don`t think on visual feedback (illuminated endless encoders) for me this is a must to have visual feedback in a dark club. when i play live with 8-16 tracks it is hard to realize that eg. a filter isn`t completely open at track 11 without visual feedback. but i play live with octatracks. so the livid stuff is actually not really useful. (only works with a connected computer) greetings

Yeah I completely agree with the feedback. That's why I like the CNTRL:R - feedback for the endless rotaries and normal knobs have a line so you can see the value.
That thing with your Block shouldn't happen, I wouldn't like that either. APC's are also very good build quality (I own the 20 and played with the 40), but the OP was already looking into the Livids so I didn't bring them up.

I have not owned any livid, just messed around with them. I WANT CNTRL:R and CODE real bad!

On the contrary, I have dismantled and modified my APC40, and prior to that I thought it was built SOLID. There's actually no much to it, and over the years with some bogus faders and a few matrix buttons gone bad, I would hardly say the APC40 is built better than Livid's.

I'm sure that ANY controllers in general are not built to last these days. Not like a hardware synth or a rane mixer would be.

My next controller will probably be a CONTRLR or a CODE. Livid is a great company, my buddy has an ohm64 and loves it. Wish they were a tad cheaper but can't have your cake and eat it too sometimes.

Push button encoders are fucking cool. And the fact that CNTRL:R has just a few, and not all like that, is EVEN BETTER. Plus it's a beautiful well thought layout. Code is simply perfect for what it is.
