I'm not sure if you can have it both ways.
Well choosing your main DAW is a huge choice, with long-term consequences
I think you raise an interesting question, but it needs breaking down into other questions, because it's not that simple ...
+ Does Bitwig Studio provide a full featured DAW that meets MY needs?
+ Am I confident that Bitwig is an ongoing concern, rather than a bunch of guys with a grudge?
+ On the evidence so far, is Bitwig Studio innovative and forward thinking, or an obvious clone?
Beyond that it's a question of doing the "balance sheet" of Pros and Cons to switching. What features from Live would I lose by switching to Bitwig? Are there features in Bitwig that are more important than those I would lose?
The danger is that I end up owning both, but equally frustrated with both because of features one has that the other lacks. My guess is that for those who buy into Bitwig Studio this is the most likely outcome - genuine frustration.
Then again, until Ableton reveal what's in Live 9 - which surely will happen soon within the same timescale as the Bitwig beta - then we can't even make a proper comparison.
