I tried it out for comparison on the beta.

8% performance increase on my dual g5 1.8 (tiger) with this .als file.

Peak was 30% before. now it goes between 15 and 22%

And there is probably some debugging code running, slowing things down.

Way to go Ableton. One more cpu to go

on my machine the performance test runs better on L4
i have peaks at 27% with L4, and 31% with L5b1
not such a big difference...

It's a Socket 754 AMD 3200+ and I'm surprised it does this well.

I upgraded from a 1.7Ghz P4. When I saw all the AMD CPUs doing so well in the Live performance test I decided to switch and I think that was a good idea.

The Abit board comes with a hardware gizmo that tells you stuff like the CPU temperature and all the voltages etc. so you can overclock it to the max. It should go even faster but I haven't had time to look into it yet.

Just got this laptop 1 week ago and love it so far.
Great 14" widescreen display, very portable, very well built, nice design, optional 2nd internal HDD (if you remove the DVD drive)...
Even the built in soundcard (intel HD audio or something) has quite good sound quality, compared to the built in soundcard on my old Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop.

When they start using intel prosessors, probably. 1 year with the imacs/ibooks and about 2 years with the power/high end stuf.
