audio waves wont show up

I am sampling from a vinyl and for some reason when i record the vinyl into ableton on the audio track, it works, and will play back, but there it dosent show the audio waves it is just a flat line if that makes sense, so its hard to chop up at the right spots, i just have to do it by ear which is getting frustrating, does anyone know how to get the sound waves to show up?

nvm figured it out when i consolidate the track they show up
