MIDI control mapping unstable with FCB 1010

Post by Ittai » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:57 pm

Help please.
I've spent the last week trying to make my FCB 1010 control Live. first I thought I might be doing something wrong, now I'm thinking maybe there's some problem with Live.
I'm running 8.2.7 on Macbookpro dual 2.4ghz OSX 10.7.2.
The problems I encounter are:
1. after mapping several cc's and note messages to different parameters, like Looper, clip record, effects bypass and track volume. saving and closing the session, the control won't work when I reopen it. It's all there in the midi mapping window, just has no effect unless I remap. quite a pain to do this everytime I open a session....
sometimes it will happen immidiately. Live sees the control data from the FCB and maps it to the parameters I choose, but will not act on it when I finish mapping and exit MIDI mapping.
2. Looper: when mapping the "state"(the big button that changes between rec play and overdubb) button to a cc command It will record a loop and go into play mode as I set it up, but after a few seconds it will change the loop length either cutting it /4 or multiplying it by 4. the loop length buttons are not mapped to MIDI control. Also another press on the pedal mapped to the "state" will send it into overdub mode as ecpected but it will only stay in overdub for a few seconds then switch into play again without me pressing anything. Looper works fine when triggered with a mouse or trackpad. these problems occur only when ext MIDI control is in play.

So... What do you wise experienced users think? am I missing something here or is there some compatibilty issue with OS Lion or the FCB 1010?
Help will be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazY!
Thanks

Map that button to a midi note instead of a cc.

This is something a little trickier :(

For some reason, you cannot send a preset change command to a VST using Live. IF the VST has a MIDI mappable control for presets you can map a control, but then only to 1 VST.

This is something I wish they would address as even the freeware BUZZ Tracker had this ability, as do most DAWs.
