Re: iPad
Expansion slots on any mobile devices remind me of the last gasp of floppy drives - when manufacturers still added them because they thought they were still necessary and relevant but.....they weren't.

@ beats - agreed and/or i can see your point, but in my experiences with this that and the other thing regarding computing and tech, i make do with what i have. i often have to be resourceful since for one reason or another (job related or personal) throwing money at it isn't an option. when you have a floppy you use a floppy, a CD, a DVD, a USB drive, a network resource, etc. etc. more options is a good thing typically because it means there's more than one route to fix or address an issue or concern - "more than one way to skin a cat" and therin lies my biggest beef with Apple. if you shoot a wad of jizz in that single connector you're done. will that happen? probably not (at least not like that), but when you have the option of expansion or transfer via SD card or whatever... you have just that... options. whether you pay for it when you purchase the device or you pay for it with an add on later you're still paying for it. when you have no options left, at that moment... you're truly paying the full price.
Here's the natural progression for the skeptic.
1. It's a luxury item but I'll give it a whirl
2. Wow, I could actually replace [whatever] with this iPad app
3. What were those limitations that fueled my skepticism? I don't even remember. lol.
4. How did I even run my life before the iPad?
All that right there is like fact.

Thing is it's perfect! The main people who will be doing this are 15 year old kids who will sell their old ones on ebay rather than deal with the inevitable questions from their parents. iPad 3 ordered and Apple stock getting higher.

Re: iPad
Lately I've been hearing a lot of talk about digital overload and too many gadgets and too much connectivity and too much email and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
5sec without all of that stuff sounds horrifying and empty and pointless.

Re: iPad
My internet went out for a couple hours last weekend and in that time I was able to:
1. Clip my finger and toenails.
2. Clean apartment (vacuuming and dusting included)
3. Clean kitchen (on the rebound)
4. Take a shower
5. Go to grocery store, get food and alcohol
6. Come back home, prep food
7. Cook food.
8. Eat food.
9. Take a nap.
10. Wake up, change clothes for cougar hunt
11. Internet back on
12. Skip the hunt, stay home for %100 cheaper and successful fantasy
13. Smoke cigarette and marvel at how much I got done
It was kind of nice to experience what normal people do on a daily basis.

Can’t youtube at work.
Sounds like you’re just not a fan of the technology in general which is fine.
Just don’t come in here claiming the iPad is useless and inferior because it doesn’t include a standard light bulb socket, rotary dial, and power backup compartment that takes 8 AAA batteries.
