APC20 note mode: How do you know which notes are which?

I've started trying out the APC 20 in note mode for both drums and keys.

Basic question... how do you know which note is which on the APC 20 grid? I can see the notes on the Ableton software. But still I don't get the rhyme or reason of how the MIDI notes are layed out on the APC 20 grid.

In other words, I'd like to know what note I'm playing before I play it.

If this doesn't get cleared up... I'll go back to using the NanoKey for notes and drum, and stick to the APC20 for clip and session control.
