allot of LJs say that but why, I mean where's the proof of that?
The proof is me, in this case. Unless I paid specifically to see the DJ (that is, a concert, and not a bar full of drunk people), I generally don't care what he does if it sounds good. I know the majority of my friends think the same.

If you still need proof you need to get out :P
i just think this always comes up in these discussions but is always overlooked, it always seems like the statements about people are there to hear good music followed by the people are on drugs and don't care about what's going on, if that's the case then what makes a dj think he's playing good music, it's not like he's got creditable listeners, and judging by the over and over again pounding same sound music that's going on in most places I'd bet people don't care about the djs skills or the djs music in those settings.

I totally agree with the guy. A good dj reads a room, and gets me to move. Ideally there will be surprises. If a dj can achieve that by putting on a cd and then snorting ketamine for an hour or two - well good luck to them. Its unlikely though.

The idea of some listeners being more creditable than others is missing the point of djing - which is participating in a social event. If the crowd is missing the art of a dj's performance then he isn't very good. No one would say, this person is good at communicating, if they could only be understood by a few people.
