sound is garbbled when using wav files in clips.

Post by sjkuessel » Fri Jan 27, 2012 5:57 pm

I'm using Ableton 7 to work with wav files I'm recording on a tascam 2488. Basicly I play tracks in Ableton, then while listening through headphones, record using my tascam 2488. The tascam is designed to be able to export wav files via its usb to a PC and into a DAW(ableton). Everything works but when I drop the wav files into an audio clip in Ableton the sound is garbbled. The recorded sound from the tascam is fine. I don't use a metronome when recoding on the tascam 2488 because I just record to the tempo of what's being played from Ableton. Is that the issue? Or is there sample rate problems or something else?

make sure warp is off, or set to complex or complex pro

garbled = clipping? like its just too loud

if the wav is fine outside Live its not a sample rate thing imo

It doesn't clip. It's not that it's to loud. If I drag other wav files not from my tascam it's ok. What it reminds me of is when you record something like guitar in Ableton at say 90BPM. If you change the tempo to 100BPM it gets that garbbled sound. That's why I was wondering if I needed to record what's on my tascam to the same metronome setting as in Ableton. I just wasn't sure if there was something else I'm missing over overlooking. Won't Ableton warp it to the right tempo? Do I need to change the warp from beats to tone or something?

no idea what kind of recs you are making, but warp crunch things where it needs to to fit the beat....it will set it to the right tempo, but its far from perfect

im betting its warp, try complex, try tones, whatever works...try turning warp off and see if its still messed up just to verify this is the source
