EDM, funky/groovy track

[Effulgence]

Hey guys, after a lot of messing around and learning, I managed to produce a new track applying what I've learned. This one's different from my other tracks, I went for something heavy and more funky and groovy on this one, mainly focusing on the basslines. I would LOVE some constructive criticism as this is my first attempt at creating this type of stuff. So, any feedback will greatly be appreciated!

Good stuff, I really liked that. Only thing that caught my ear is that the bass sound should be a bit smoother, less fizzy distortion. At the moment, it kinda overpowers the rest of the track elements because of this...although this is just my preference I guess.

Hmm.. I have been told that a couple times now. How would you recommend to take out that muddy sound? Maybe cutting out some frequencies using EQ?

How are you creating it? It sounds like a moog with some effects on top of it perhaps?

I'm just building it with 2 oscillators with a square and a saw wave. I figured it out though, just had to cut the extreme highs out and the bass sounded cleaner, and more defined and not as muddy, thank for your feedback though

Good stuff, repost it! I think it's a really good arrangement, I listened to it a 2nd time and the only thing I picked up on was that I would have preferred a synth sound to the piano...but that's just me, I don't really use piano sounds myself.

Yeah I would but I'm working on a new track already! But oh well, I learned a lot during the process of this track and a lot of people are also telling me that for some reason the highs are making the bass sound good as well. So I might just leave it, but now I have that knowledge for next time Also, yes I think you're right, the piano could be replaced by another synth, but I already have 2 background synths that are already giving the song that atmosphere so I wasn't really too focused on the piano. The whole song was just made for me to apply my new knowledge of basslines and grooves and it seems like a success! Thanks for your feedback though man, I really appreciate it! Maybe you could post some of your stuff and I could check it out?

Liking the tones. Individually, they're very nice.

While I dig the bass timbre, not sure if it's appropriate here. Did you try a sub-bass type thing? I think if you lowered it's overall attention in the mix, you'd have room for another melody line or harmony.

Also, you should try putting the drums in a small room reverb that's set back in the mix. Right now, you've got the ambient synth deep in reverb, and everything else up front. Play with spatial depth so that each instrument has it's own 'place'.
