Midi Triggering 2 Ways Question

Post by Teaparty » Wed Feb 01, 2012 10:13 am

Hi,

I want to assign my usb/midi keyboards keys to some functions in Ableton live and at the same time want to use it to trigger Operator.
It seems like with my knowledge impossible, it triggers just synth notes or triggers the duties i've assigned it to do but not both.

Any ideas?

Can be an indirect way to do it?

use seperate midi channels on your midi controllers. eg: ch1 for mappings, ch2 for playing.

Hey gaboozy it would be great but i want to trigger them both in the same time changing midi channel means. I'm thinking about sending midi signals out from live and then receiving back but just an imagination nothing practical.

Do I follow correctly that you want to play a MIDI note, and every time you play that note you hear it from Operator and it adjusts some parameter in Live?

I think that's a 'yes.'

The best way I know of to do this is to use some kind of virtual MIDI device or loopback software (Bome's, OSX IAC, Midi-OX, etc) and have each note from your keyboard intercepted and duplicated on another channel.

You could probably build this with Pure Data or Max pretty easily too, if you have those.
