What's your technique for figuring out the midi data? do you use loops and move data about until it works or do you play alongside the track straight into arrangement, maybe doing multiple takes?

Sometimes I look for midi files in the web but a lot are bad, so I often made it alone with my ears !
But after the hardest thing to do is to identify a instrument and make it become similar to the original.
With Ableton you can slow down a track.
With a lot of work, you can have a good result.
