I've had this problem since 8.0, but I haven't been doing much chopping up audio in live, so I figured it would eventually get fixed and didn't report it.
For example I have a project open with 16+ takes of audio and I proceed to cut out bits of audio and change fades/xfades, then my "drive" light indicator will start to steadily blink with the audio glitching with it of course. Same thing will happen when changing a fade.
The odd thing is I have all the files in memory...
This will happen after a little bit of time and then the CPU meter in Ableton freaks out, going to 600% or whatever, forcing me to restart.
Ableton ends up only using a gig of memory when it happens, and I'm still at 60% total system memory usage.

Yeah, man, +1.
I had hoped this was going to be fixed but it hasn't been.
Surely putting a clip into RAM - I've tried this by putting ALL clips into RAM - should reduce, at least not increase, HDD utilisation.
My MBP has 8GB of RAM and has no other user applications running.
Someone???

Glad to see I'm not the only one.
