1. How should anyone over answer this question, if Bitwig would have done it like you suggested?
2. Why don't you ask Bitwig directly or at the unofficial Bitwig-forum?
3. Who cares? - I'm on their mailing list from (more or less) day one and there hasn't been any news further than the BW Studio announcement. So if they should have started a silent beta, I'm not in. And if I'm not in, I'm not in and it won't make much sense to cry about that then.

Btw I can't imagine they'll do a silent beta after announcing that beta will be starting soon with the product announcement. I'm quite sure that there will be much noise from people in the beta as soon as it started. And if BW Studio will really deliver what's announced BW will count on free beta-tester advertising what will cause many of us want to test and use it too.

As always... good things will come to the one who can wait. ;)

the beta is going, yes. in other forums people have posted pics of their beta invite email (idmforums.com, kvr). it's in progress. they've been asked not to discuss it.

a friend of mine analyzed the beta invitation and detected that only some parts of the font is cleartype font. The whole beta text is not cleartype font and also part of the email title, which is displayed by googlemail is not cleartype. Since googlemail uses cleartype for all of it's fot it is clearly visible that this invitation is obviously FAKE.
Little example in the title: "bitwig:" is cleartype font and the rest not. This would prove that this "bitwig:" is used from the newsletter registration and the rest is modified.

Not everything is a conspiracy.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they had a non-disclosure agreement in the first place.
It makes sense when they have a direct rival that is also in development status as well.
Or if there are some features that could be so problematic that it's better to leave them out of public release, yet some may have really liked those features; lots of bitching possibilities there.

6. Most of these "people in other forums" seemed to think that pic of the invite was a fake. I don't care much as anyway wouldn't find the time to really test it, but I still don't believe Bitwig will do some sort of silent beta. Maybe I'm wrong.

No one here said they believed it. I think it's real. Sure someone could do it in photoshop, even if it's a lame idea. Still, why is it such an outrageous idea that it's real?

everything you think know about bitwig is an image.

"You take the .jpeg – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the video – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the YouTube goes."

^ you should send in a crash report stating that you've run across a rewire Earwig.

Beside this whole discussion is some kind of senseless anyway ... in my opinion it would be very curios to announce a start of beta and then have "beta, release candidate" as top of the first beta invitation. But anyway...

Anyone know how the name "Bitwig" came to be? What does it mean?
