yep. as a hardware engineer I see this all the time, we build better and better hardware, the software guys use more and more of it.Let me make this analogy instead - the bigger garage you have the more likely you are to fill it with useless junk.
Well, I haven't seen much that improves my core workflow all that much since 7. I've been using Live personally and professionally in production and performance capacities since Live 4. I have no doubt that your claims are true and correct. Kontakt is well known to be a CPU hog and third party plug ins in general are known to be a cause of Live's problems. I also have no doubt that there are plenty of copies of Kontakt on the computers at Ableton, it's a VERY popular plug in. in Live's development I'm sure they test third party plug-ins, including Kontakt. the people at Ableton use Live too, for fun, not just for work.

I'd run it sometime ago right when I first got my machine, but not in the context of a shootout among various Live versions... all this got me thinking that perhaps running the Live 8 Performance Test on the various flavors of Live 8 could shed some light on this. I know your concern is Kontakt but as for Live itself that might shed some light on things. all I can do is dream of having such free time.
