I've been running my roland fantom g synth through a usb into ableton live on my laptop.
Everything has been going smoothly, I've been using external instrument plugins on each individual track to route back out to the synth to get instrument audio. Each track in ableton is routed to a different channel on the synth and I'm getting the sounds and midi information.
the problem I've been having though is that each individual track in ableton contains audio from the other tracks. When I solo the kick drum in ableton for example, I can still hear my synths and the rest of the tracks (they are just a little less loud).
Or if I am in arrangement view and attempt to record the kick drum to it's own audio track I still end up with the rest of the instruments playing through the whole song as well. It's as if the external instrument plugin is just receiving all the midi playing from my arrangement.
This is making it impossible to mix because I can't eq,pan or automate without changing all the tracks.
Question 2: The roland has it's own DAW, if I record a song on the synth is there a way to separate it out into individual midi tracks in ableton. For example, I make a beat on the synth's DAW, but when I record it via midi to ableton it takes everything onto one track even though on the roland I have different tracks and instruments. I've tried to separate the tracks via an external instrument plugin but this has been another problem for me.
Been working on it all day, I need a break lol. it's probably something simple
thank you
