Mixing songs with extreme temp differences

If i have two songs and they are lets say 97 bpm on one track and 142 on another, how do i beat match or mix them in a dj set? I have seen a lot of tutorials on warping tracks in ableton on you tube, but when start a new set with one track, and warp another track of substantially different tempo to the prior track, the second track way to slow. Answers are greatly appreciated.

Be creative. Mixing doesn't mean that you always have to beat-match two tracks and do a fade. Just do some own stuff - you are using live not some oldschool turntables
Close a HP on the fast track, while playing a down-lifting pad, slowing down the pace while playing it and mix in the second. Do a "silence" break, just stop one track completly, or use a BP so that you only hear a signle synth and come in with the second one with a HP or LP ... lot of differnt options, also depends what kind of music you play. doing such mini-breaks on a house mix might not be right thing.. for trance it might work great ect.

You're absolutely right. Ableton has so much flexibility when it comes to mixing. The music i play is self written, and definitely not "house"y. I appreciate your response, but please clarify : HP, BP, LP ? haha Forgive me for not knowing what you mean.

If you're mixing the 97 one into the 142 one you could loop the last bar/half bar/ etc. of the 97 dropping it down to 71 and then mix the 142 over the top. It's a smaller quicker transition to make the first one half speed than match it up and it could be crossfaded as the tempo of the first comes down
