Can't get midi out from Max into Live

So I've been trying to build this patch in Max (not Maxforlive), that let's me create a list with midi notes that I will run through with the help of a foot pedal. The midi notes will be used to jump to different locators in Live's arrange view, to send a bunch of video clips out of Live.

The BIG problem I can't get through is that Live doesn't respond to any midi messages that I send from Max. I've tried sending over the IAC buses as well as the designated Max channels. Live just won't listen. I've also tried sending all kinds of midi data from Max, through the respective "midiout", "ctlout" and "noteout" objects.

Does anyone think of any part of the chain that I'm missing here?
